Arab Finance: The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to continue their ongoing cooperation in training, green transformation, and marketing, according to a statement.
This MoU builds on previous agreements and reflects a fruitful partnership over the years.
The agreement outlines increased communication between the two parties, facilitating the exchange of information and expertise, in addition to promoting the SCA’s maritime and logistics services to its customers.
It also includes following up with the latest developments in canal navigation and marketing and pricing policies.
As per the MoU, both sides aim to enhance navigation security and follow international environmental standards to reduce carbon emissions.
The MoU was signed by Fathy Abdelbary Emara, Acting Director of Planning, Research, and Studies Department at the SCA, and Guy Platten, Secretary General at ICS, with the presence of the authority’s Chairman Osama Rabie.
During their meeting, Rabie and Platten discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the SCA and ICS amid recent developments in the Red Sea region, which have impacted the stability of global supply chains.
Platten expressed optimism about the continued collaboration with the SCA, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to face current challenges in the region.
He also noted that the return of major shipping lines to the Suez Canal is critical once the region is stable.
