Arab Finance: Schneider Electric, a company focused on energy management and automation, has announced the latest results of its Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) program along with its financial performance for the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, as per an emailed press release.
Recognized by TIME and Statista for its sustainability efforts, Schneider Electric is progressing toward its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets set for 2025. Its current SSI score stands at 7.29 out of 10, putting it on track to meet the 2024 target of 7.40.
The SSI program monitors progress across 11 global and local goals, with two significant milestones achieved this quarter.
Schneider has exceeded its objective of providing green and reliable energy access to 50 million people, more than a year ahead of the 2025 deadline.
This was accomplished through solar power installations in public facilities in Africa and India.
In Kenya, Nigeria, and India, hybrid solar systems were installed in health clinics serving around 2 million people.
In India, over 700 schools were equipped with clean energy, benefitting approximately 120,000 students. Schneider now plans to expand these efforts to reach a cumulative 100 million people with green energy access by 2030, starting from 2009.
Additionally, Schneider has trained over 763,000 people in energy management.
A recent collaboration with Enactus enabled university students from 10 countries to create projects addressing energy-related social issues, furthering the company’s focus on skill development and education.
The company also made progress in reducing the carbon footprint of its supply chain through its Zero Carbon Project, achieving a 36% reduction in CO2 emissions from its key suppliers.
This was supported by renewable energy workshops in the USA, Europe, and China, as well as webinars designed to guide suppliers in adopting decarbonization practices.
