Arab Finance: The Egyptian House of Representatives has approved presidential decree No. 449 of 2024, endorsing an executive agreement with Italy aimed at promoting the rights of persons with disabilities and facilitating their integration into society, as per a statement.
The agreement, signed by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation in collaboration with the Italian government, involves a grant of €1.8 million to support its implementation.
Minister of Planning Rania Al-Mashat stated that the agreement targets to enhance the institutional capacity of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities while fostering collaboration among various entities to address the multifaceted needs of individuals with disabilities.
The program emphasizes establishing strategic frameworks and initiatives to support the integration of persons with disabilities into societal and developmental frameworks.
This includes improving the operational efficiency of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and establishing specialized centers designed to cater to the needs of individuals with disabilities, including children.
Training programs for workers in social and healthcare sectors are planned, alongside public awareness campaigns aimed at combating societal stigma and promoting inclusivity.
Furthermore, the program will host an international forum to amplify its message and solidify efforts to promote integration.
