Egypt mandates low-sulfur fuel usage for foreign ships at Alexandria Port as of May

Arab Finance: The Egyptian government has required foreign ships frequenting at Alexandria Port to use low-sulfur fuel, effective May 1, 2025, Asharq Business reported, citing a government document.

Accordingly, foreign ships shall use fuel with a sulfur content of no more than 0.1%.

The requirement reflects Egypt's adherence to IMO environmental standards aimed at reducing air pollution from maritime activities.
