Arab Finance: Undersecretary and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Moataz Atef has represented Egypt at the 26th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Iran, Tehran, as per a statement.
In his speech, Atef highlighted significant challenges facing the natural gas sector amidst ongoing economic and regional crises. He emphasized the importance of cooperation among GECF member states to address these challenges effectively.
He also stressed the continued global reliance on natural gas, particularly as energy demand grows during the energy transition phase and with the increasing integration of artificial intelligence into energy systems.
Atef outlined Egypt's strategic objectives in the energy sector, presenting six key priorities.
These include ensuring domestic availability of petroleum products, enhancing value-added activities such as refining and petrochemical production, advancing the mining sector, and optimizing energy resources for economic growth.
This is in addition to fostering an investment-friendly environment and promoting regional cooperation to attract investments.
