Arab Finance: Egypt has leased a third floating gasification unit to meet growing domestic energy demands and supply natural gas to Jordan, an anonymous government official told Asharq Business.
The unit is set to arrive at Sokhna Port by June 2025.
This development follows an announcement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources that it had contracted with US-based New Fortress Energy to lease a floating gasification unit.
That unit is expected to begin operations in the second half (H2) of 2025, complementing the existing Hogg Galleon vessel.
The trio of units will convert imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) back into its gaseous form, ensuring fuel supplies for Egypt and Jordan during peak summer demand.
