SCZone's Istithmar invites bids for seawater desalination plant project

Arab Finance: SCZone Istithmar, a wholly-owned entity of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), has invited for companies to submit prequalification applications for a long-term water purchase agreement, as per a press release.

The project involves designing, financing, building, operating, maintaining, and transferring ownership of a seawater desalination plant.

The initiative is being developed with the technical support of the Public-Private Partnership Central Unit (PPPCU) of Egypt’s Ministry of Finance and is backed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and its advisors.

The project represents a significant step in addressing water resource challenges while fostering public-private collaboration in Egypt.

Applicants may participate as individual legal entities or as part of a consortium.

Detailed prequalification criteria for prospective applicants are outlined in the Request for Prequalification (RFQ) document.

Interested companies can obtain the RFQ by submitting a formal request via email to Desal@sczone.eg.

The deadline for submitting prequalification applications is set for February 24th, 2025, at 4:00 PM Cairo Time.
