Arab Finance: Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud discussed met with a delegation of the alliance comprising Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), Infinity Power, and Hassan Allam Construction to follow up on its solar and wind energy projects, according to an official statement.
The meeting also touched upon ways to accelerate the execution of renewable energy projects, currently being developed in Benban and the Gulf of Suez, and connecting them to the unified electricity grid.
In the same vein, the meeting addressed projects aimed at producing electricity from solar energy with a total capacity of 1,200 megawatts (MW), in addition to storage batteries with a total capacity of 720 MW.
Esmat indicated that these projects are set to be linked to the national grid and begin operations this year.
This aligns with the action plan to boost renewable energy projects and reduce carbon emissions by diversifying energy sources.
The minister highlighted that the state's strategy targets renewable energy contribution to the energy mix to reach more than 42% by 2030 and 65% in 2040.
