EETC allocates EGP 7B to unload, transmit renewable energy until end-2025

Arab Finance: Egyptian Electricity Transmission (EETC) has allocated EGP 7 billion in new investments to unload and transmit electricity from renewable energy projects and connect it to the national grid until the end of 2025, a government official told Asharq Business.

The anticipated projects would include transformer stations that unload energy from solar and wind power plants to transmission lines, according to the official.

They will also have overhead power lines to transmit electricity and connect it to the unified national network.

The lion’s share of these projects will be carried out in the south of Egypt, as most solar and wind energy projects are already implemented in governorates such as Aswan, Minya, and Red Sea, the official said.

Moreover, the official noted that the Ministry of Electricity is getting ready to receive solar and power energies of capacities ranging between 4 and 5.5 gigawatts by the end of 2025.

In the previous fiscal year (FY) 2023/2024, EETC secured nearly EGP 7.6 billion for significant upgrades to the country’s electricity infrastructure.
