Arab Finance: Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, has reviewed US-based energy firm Apache Corporation’s plans to drill new wells in the Western Desert, as per a statement.
In his meeting with Apache’s Vice President and Country Manager in Egypt Greg McDaniel, Badawi outlined targeted programs to increase the natural gas production in the Western Desert.
The two parties also agreed to inject new investments in the petroleum sector and expand the company's business by securing new gas exploration areas.
Furthermore, the minister highlighted the importance of implementing health, safety, and environmental procedures.
McDaniel affirmed the company's interest in cooperating with the petroleum sector to deploy work programs aimed at boosting oil and gas production. This is in addition to supporting environmental sustainability, enhancing energy efficiency projects, and emission reduction.
In October 2024, Apache unveiled plans to raise its natural gas output in Egypt by 11% during the current fiscal year (FY) 2024/2025.
