Arab Finance: The drug shortage crisis in Egypt has been resolved by 98%, Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Ali Ghamrawy announced during a press conference on February 3rd.
He also outlined plans to establish a six-month strategic stock of raw materials for high-demand medications, such as those for diabetes and blood pressure.
Ghamrawy addressed the issue of antibiotic misuse in the country, highlighting its unjustified prevalence.
He revealed that measures to ration antibiotic consumption have led to a 3.5% reduction in the number of antibiotic packages circulating in the market, with 407 million packages recorded last year.
These steps are part of ongoing efforts to ensure better management and availability of essential medicines in Egypt.
