El-Wazir inaugurates EGP 2B Elsewedy Telecom Cables factory

Arab Finance: Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel El-Wazir has inaugurated the Elsewedy Telecom Cables factory, with a total investment of EGP 2 billion, according to an official statement.

This came within the minister’s visit to Industria East of Elsewedy Industrial Development, a subsidiary of Elsewedy Electric, in the 10th of Ramadan City.

The cables factory, which is built on an area of 70,000 square meters, specializes in the production of fiber-optic cables, telecommunication copper cables, and telecom infrastructure accessories.

It has a production capacity of 4 million kilometers of fiber-optic cables and 200,000 kilometers of telecommunication copper cables.

Around 49.5% of the factory’s production relies on local components. The factory aims to export 50% of its production abroad and provide 400 job opportunities.

El-Wazir also visited the Utopia Pharmaceuticals Factory, located in the 10th of Ramadan City.

With a total investment of EGP 1.1 billion, the factory covers 18,000 square meters and specializes in producing medical supplies related to heart and blood pressure.

Utopia Pharmaceuticals exports around 15% of its output, with 90% of production relying on local components. The factory has 1,050 employees.

The minister visited the Schneider Electric factory, located on an area of 44,600 square meters in the industrial zone in Badr City.

The facility produces electrical panels, with an annual production of 9,000 medium-voltage cell units, 3,000 low-voltage cell units, and 18 kilometers of busway.

With a local component ratio of 81%, the factory exports to more than 35 countries and employs approximately 650 workers

Finally, El-Wazir reviewed Schneider Electric’s expansion plans including an investment of €8 million to increase production capacity by an additional 10,000 square meters.
