El-Khatib discusses investment opportunities with Spanish Hydrogen Association

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib met with Javier Brey, President of the Spanish Hydrogen Association (AeH2), and its members to explore investment opportunities in Egypt's hydrogen production sector, as per a statement.

The meeting took place during El-Khatib’s visit to Spain, where he emphasized Egypt’s commitment to expanding green energy projects and boosting hydrogen production for local use and export to regional and global markets.

The Egyptian minister highlighted Egypt’s ongoing efforts to attract investment in this sector, reassuring the association's members of the ministry’s full support to facilitate their entry and expansion in the Egyptian market.

The AeH2, which consists of 430 members from various industries—including renewable energy developers, equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, and companies in the oil, gas, and transportation sectors, provided an overview of its activities.

During the meeting, it was agreed that a delegation of companies from the association would visit Egypt to explore investment opportunities firsthand.

The delegation will hold meetings with research centers, universities, and other stakeholders involved in hydrogen production.

El-Khatib also reviewed the Egyptian government’s recent financial, monetary, and trade policy reforms aimed at easing investment procedures and facilitating foreign trade.

Javier Brey praised Egypt’s significant potential in hydrogen production, particularly within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), highlighting Egypt’s competitive advantages in cost and infrastructure.

He added that the coming period will see the European Union issuing new incentives for hydrogen production.

Brey also noted Spain’s plans to develop its port network and infrastructure to support increased reliance on hydrogen.
