Madbouly confirms public-sector salary increase to take effect in July

Arab Finance: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly confirmed that wage increases for government employees will take effect in July at the start of the new fiscal year (FY) 2025/2026, as per a statement.

He made the announcement during a press conference following the weekly cabinet meeting, addressing wage policies, Gaza’s reconstruction, economic stability, and other key issues.

He also noted that the government’s social protection package includes measures related to Ramadan and holidays, to be implemented within the coming three months.

Regarding Gaza’s reconstruction, Madbouly said Egypt is working with Palestinian authorities on a structured plan, with details to be announced soon.

He emphasized that reconstruction efforts should take place while residents remain in place, as seen in global post-war rebuilding efforts, to avoid unnecessary relocation costs.

On the proposal to form a cultural advisory committee, the Prime Minister welcomed the idea, noting that the selection of its members and structure would be reviewed in the coming period.

Madbouly reassured citizens about the availability of essential goods, stating that Egypt maintains a strategic stockpile sufficient for at least six months.

He urged consumers to avoid excessive stockpiling, which could lead to waste and unnecessary strain on resources.

Regarding the old rent law, Madbouly confirmed that the government is working on an executive plan following a constitutional court ruling.
