Egypt's unemployment rate dips to 6.4% in Q4 2024

Arab Finance: Egypt's unemployment rate decreased to 6.4% of the total labor force in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2024, down 0.3% from the previous quarter, according to a press release issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on February 16th.

The total labor force in Egypt grew by 2.8% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to 33.124 million in Q4 2024, from 32.218 million in Q3 2024.

The labor force stood at 14.502 million individuals in urban areas, while it hit 18.622 million in rural areas.

In terms of gender, the male labor force reached 21.042 million in Q4 2024, while females amounted to 12.088 million.

The number of unemployed individuals in Q4 2024 was 2.130 million, representing 6.4% of the total labor force.

Broken down by gender, the unemployment rate among males was 3.9%, while the rate among females was significantly higher at 16.6%.
