El-Khatib, ACWA Power review renewable energy opportunities in Egypt

Arab Finance: Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib met with a delegation from Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power Group, led by Chairman Mohammad Abunayyan, to explore investment opportunities and projects in Egypt’s renewable energy sector and review the company’s future plans in the country, as per a statement.

El-Khatib reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to fostering an investment-friendly environment, emphasizing the competitiveness of its market despite global economic challenges.

He urged increased Saudi investment in Egypt's renewable energy and electricity sectors, noting that Egypt aims to generate 30 gigawatts to support its national grid, including 10 gigawatts from renewable sources.

El-Khatib also stressed the importance of localizing industry in Egypt, positioning the country as a key industrial and export hub linking three major continents.

He called for initiatives to support youth from both countries through training and qualification programs, particularly in advancing the green economy’s infrastructure.
