Arab Finance: Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Greece’s Minister of Environment and Energy Theodoros Skylakakis to collaborate on carbon capture, storage, and utilization, as per a statement from the Egyptian side.
Signed during the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2025), the agreement aims to reduce carbon emissions in the energy sector and support low-carbon economies.
The agreement focuses on exchanging expertise, developing regulatory frameworks, conducting technical feasibility studies, and exploring economic models for carbon capture and storage.
It also includes examining potential applications for carbon dioxide in industrial sectors.
Badawi emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment and noted that collaboration with Greece could pave the way for regional partnerships.
He also highlighted Egypt’s ambition to become a future exporter of captured carbon dioxide to European markets for industrial use.
