Arab Finance: The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Huawei Egypt to collaborate on solar energy projects and renewable energy networks, as per a statement.
The agreement aligns with the ministry’s efforts to advance energy transformation and expand renewable energy initiatives within the petroleum sector.
As part of the cooperation, Huawei will implement a pilot project incorporating photovoltaic energy, a microgrid system, and battery storage to reduce reliance on diesel-powered generators at a petroleum production site.
The project is set to begin in the first half (H1) of 2025, with Huawei fully covering its costs.
This partnership marks a step toward lowering the carbon footprint in the petroleum sector, improving energy efficiency, and promoting clean energy technologies.
The pilot project will assess the feasibility of solar and battery solutions in challenging environments, supporting their broader implementation in similar operations.
