Egypt sets official closing hours for shops, restaurants in Ramadan, Eid

Arab Finance: Minister of Local Development and Head of the Supreme Committee for Licensing Public Stores Manal Awad has announced an official decision setting the closing times for shops, restaurants, and cafes during the holy month of Ramadan and Eid El-Fitr for the Hijri year 1446, as per a statement.

Under the new rules, shops, restaurants, and cafes will remain open until 2:00 am, with restaurants and cafes permitted to provide home delivery services around the clock.

Workshops within residential areas must close by 10:00 pm, except those on main roads and at gas stations.

The decision, an exception to committee resolution No. 456 of 2020, aims to balance economic activity with public order while ensuring a suitable atmosphere for citizens.

The decision excludes essential service providers, including grocery stores, supermarkets, bakeries, and ovens, while also accommodating businesses with night-time operations, such as fruit and vegetable markets, poultry shops, wholesale markets, and pharmacies, to ensure uninterrupted access to basic goods.
