SCZone’s Chairman lays foundation stone for $20M Hi-Tech North Africa project

Arab Finance: Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), laid the foundation stone for the Hi-Tech North Africa facility, according to a statement.

With investment totaling $20 million (EGP 1 billion), the project marks the first Thai industrial investment in the economic zone and in Egypt.

Thai company Hi-Tech Apparel developed the facility on an area of 64,000 square meters and is set to secure around 2,000 direct job opportunities.

Upon full operation, it seeks to produce six million pieces annually, meeting the needs of global markets, particularly those in Europe and America.

On his part, Gamal El-Diثn stated that the Hi-Tech North Africa project in the West Qantara Industrial Zone aligns with the authority's efforts to target major global investments in key sectors.

He noted that there are approximately 130 factories under construction simultaneously, which is a remarkable achievement in the authority's history.

It is worth noting that Hi-Tech is a leading global sportswear manufacturer that operates across 10 factories, seven of which are located in Thailand and one each in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.

The company has more than 14,000 workers, with an annual production volume exceeding 60 million pieces, and annual revenues exceeding $220 million.

Hi-Tech North Africa represents the company's first investment in the Middle East and Africa.
