Arab Finance: Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has activated an emergency plan for natural gas supply priorities following the outbreak of military actions in the region and the suspension of gas imports from the east, as per a statement.
The plan includes halting natural gas supplies to certain industrial activities, increasing consumption at mazut power plants to the maximum available levels, and coordinating efforts to operate some stations using diesel fuel.
This comes as a precautionary step to maintain the stability of the national gas network and avoid reductions in electricity grid load.
Three regasification vessels have arrived in Egypt to support the national network.
One vessel has already begun pumping gas, while the remaining two are currently being prepared and connected to port facilities.
The ministry confirmed that both the natural gas network and diesel reserves are secure, and operations are being monitored around the clock by the national control room.
