Arab Finance: Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with a delegation of Australian mining companies to explore potential investment opportunities in Egypt’s mining sector, as per a statement.
Badawi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to fostering a favorable investment environment, supported by recent sector reforms that streamline licensing procedures and enhance coordination among government bodies.
He noted that the ministry is preparing a new package of incentives to attract further investment, in coordination with relevant ministries and authorities.
The minister highlighted Egypt’s mineral wealth, strong infrastructure, diverse energy resources, and supportive legislative framework as key elements for success in the mining industry.
The meeting reviewed the outcomes of the Australian delegation’s two-day visit to several mining sites, including the Sukari Mine, the Nubian Mining Company, and advanced mineral analysis laboratories under the Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority.
Delegation members expressed particular interest in Egypt’s digital mining platform, designed to enhance investor access and geological data efficiency, as well as the ongoing regional aerial survey to update geological maps and the national mineral resources database.
