Ship refloated after running aground in Egypt’s Suez Canal

ArabFinance: A ship has been refloated after running aground in the Suez Canal and briefly disrupting traffic in the waterway, according to a statement by the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) on January 9th.

Islands-flagged MV Glory, which was heading to China from Turkey, suffered a technical failure in the machinery of the bulk carrier at kilometer 38th.

Head of the SCA Osama Rabie reiterates that "the SCA has more than enough capabilities and expertise in the field of maritime salvage operations which enable it to deal with any possible emergencies."

Rabie revealed that four tugboats have been deployed to the incident's location to handle the situation.

MV GLORY stands 225 meters in length, 32 meters in width, and 41,000 tons in capacity.

The canal is the fastest shipping route between Europe and Asia and one of Egypt's main sources of foreign currency.
