Orascom Construction-Colas Rail consortium to implement Alexandria Metro’s infrastructure

Arab Finance: The Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) has signed a contract worth €1.3 billion with a consortium of Orascom Construction Plc and the French railway infrastructure services provider Colas Rail to execute the infrastructure and systems of Alexandria Metro, as per a statement.

The project’s first phase will be executed within 30 months under two contracts; the first contract includes civil, railroad, signaling, communications, central control, ticket gates, power supply, electrical, and mechanical works.

The second contract covers the implementation of mobile units, spare parts, and testing and measuring equipment, Egyptian Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir said.
