Arab Finance: Egypt’s external debt inched down by 0.38% month on month (MoM) during the fourth quarter (Q4) of fiscal year (FY) 2022/2023, according to data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The country’s total external debt stood at $164.727 billion in Q4 FY 2022/2023, versus $155.708 billion in Q4 FY 2021/2022.
The government’s debt hit $83.428 billion at the end of June 2023, while the CBE’s foreign debt reached $43.617 billion.
As for the debt of banks operating in Egypt, it totaled $20.978 billion, while the external debt of other sectors amounted to $16.703 billion.
