Egypt’s NAT cooperates with international, local firms in electric traction field

Arab Finance: The National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) has signed four contracts, five memoranda of understanding (MoUs), and a framework agreement with local and international consortia and firms in the field of electric traction, according to a statement.

The first contract was signed between NAT and the Spanish consulting engineering firm TYPSA to prepare the preliminary studies for the extension of Helwan-New El Marg Metro Line.

Another contract was inked to execute the civil works of the eastern part of Metro Line 4.

Moreover, NAT sealed a contract with a consortium of Orascom Construction, the Arab Contractors, and ElSewedy Electric to design, supply, and execute electromechanical works of the stations of the Sokhna-Alamein-Matrouh high speed rail Line 1.

An MoU was also inked with the Spanish firm CAF to renew a contract on the maintenance and revamp of 23 trains of Cairo Metro Line 1, in addition to another MoU to maintain and upgrade 39 trains of Line 2.

Additionally, a framework agreement was signed between the authority, the Chinese AVEC International consortia, and China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Company to implement the fourth phase of 10th of Ramadan railway project.

Furthermore, an MoU was sealed with AVEC International to carry out the fifth phase of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, along with another MoU to implement the electric train projects connecting Al Rehab City to the New Administrative Capital.

This is in addition to an MoU with the Delta Development Consortium (DDC) and China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC) to establish the Port Said - Abu Qir 250-kilometer high-speed rail line.
