Opay cooperates with Banque Misr to issue prepaid cards

Arab Finance: The fintech solutions provider OPay Egypt has inked a cooperation protocol with Banque Misr to issue prepaid OPay cards, in collaboration with Meeza and MasterCard, according to an emailed press release on February 6th.

This marks an effective step in bolstering the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) long-term strategy to reinforce financial inclusion and digital transformation.

The prepaid cards will be offered to customers without any issuance fees or the need to have a banking account.

The new cards will enable their holders to pay bills, withdraw cash from ATMs, do online shopping, and carry out purchases via points of sale (PoS).

In the past years, the digital payments and fintech sectors witnessed growth and prosperity in terms of the use of e-payment applications and the gradual transformation in financial transactions, within the framework of the CBE’s strategy to enhance financial inclusion,” Digital and Cards Business Director at OPay Hisham Ezz El-Din stated.

“Therefore, OPay Egypt pays great attention to applying all principles of financial inclusion and investment in the digital economy, with the aim to become a cashless society by providing the latest fintech services and digital products,” he added.
