Arab Finance: The Ministry of International Cooperation is exploring the implementation updates of the Development Policy Financing (DPF) program and following up on the technical discussions of the Climate Resilient Agri-Food Transformation (CRAFT) project with the World Bank Group (WBG), according to a statement.
This was discussed during a meeting between Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat and Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region Ousmane Dione on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the Arab Financial Institutions 2024.
The meeting tackled the follow-up on technical discussions of CRAFT project within the Nexus of Water, Food and Energy (NWFE) Program, which resulted from the integration of the adaptation of crop production in the Nile Valley and Delta and the establishment of early warning systems.
In this regard, Al-Mashat highlighted the role played by the WBG as a leading technical partner in carrying out the CRAFT project.
This project achieves several developmental effects, including enhancing crop productivity by 10-15%, supporting adaptability in the Nile Valley and Delta, and establishing early warning units that improve prediction systems.
Consequently, this supports the services provided to farmers to hedge against the risks of climate change.
It is worth noting that the ongoing development cooperation portfolio between Egypt and the WBG includes 13 projects worth $6.7 billion in the fields of education, health, transport, social protection, renewable energy, water desalination, housing, local development, and environment.
