Arab Finance: The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) has issued two decrees requiring companies and entities operating in the consumer finance and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) financing sectors to create real-time links with the Egyptian Credit Bureau (i-Score).
The measure aims to strengthen regulatory oversight of financing activities while improving the speed and accuracy of creditworthiness assessments and client reporting.
Under Decree No. 174 of 2026, companies licensed to conduct consumer finance activities must notify i-Score in real time of key developments related to each financing arrangement, including approval, disbursement, full or partial repayment, and termination.
Consumer finance companies are also required to submit data regarding the financing granted to clients to the credit information company using a designated form within five days following the end of each month.
Meanwhile, companies, associations, and civil society organizations licensed to finance MSMEs are subject to the same real-time reporting requirements, covering financing approval and disbursement, full or partial repayment, termination, the initiation of judicial or legal proceedings, and changes in the client’s status.
Chairman Islam Azzam said the move would enhance the companies’ ability to make the right decisions that contribute to boosting the financing sector's prosperity and efficiency.
