A total of 69,790 employees worked for the best five performing Egyptian lenders in 2022, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).  

Egypt’s top five performing banks, which are also serving their customers via 15,497 automated teller machines (ATMs) nationwide, issued 18.64 million debit cards, 22.31 million prepaid cards and 3.67 million credit cards last year. 

Thirty-eight banks are currently operational in Egypt, of which 21 foreign lenders, 11 governmental, five joint venture banks and a one private lender, according to the CBE’s website.
