In the second quarter (Q2) of 2024, the agriculture and fishery sector was the largest employer in Egypt, accounting for 19.3% of total employment, as per data from CAPMAS.
It was followed by wholesale and retail at 14.9%, building and construction at 13.6%, transformative industries at 13.1%, and transport and storage at 9.2%.
The unemployment rate in Egypt declined to 6.5% in the second quarter (Q2) of 2024 from 6.7% in Q1.
