Arab Finance: The Egyptian government has formed an advisory committee to review the prices of medicines every six months amid the current fluctuations in the Egyptian pound’s exchange rate against foreign currencies, a government official told Asharq Business.
The committee will submit its recommendations to the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), which will be in charge of issuing periodic decisions on raising or cutting prices based on market conditions, the official noted.
He stated that the committee's scope of work will not only involve reviewing medicines prices in light of fluctuations in exchange rate and sociological data, but will also encompass evaluating the prices of medicines provided to government hospitals.
