- The latest statistics from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Census (CAPMAS) revealed that in 2022, Egypt had a total of 368 beaches with a total length of 1,115 kilometers (km).
- Only one-quarter of the beaches in Egypt are public, totaling 97. The number of public beaches has grown by 29.3% year-on-year (YoY), with a combined length of 497.2 km.
- Public beaches offer various services, including villas, cabins, and beach clubs, with a total of 573 such facilities available.
- Nestled along Egypt's Mediterranean coast, Alexandria stands out as a beloved summer destination for locals. Renowned for its historic charm and vibrant culture, Alexandria boasts beaches like Montazah and Stanley, where visitors can bask in the sun and swim in the refreshing waters. Alexandria has the largest number of public beaches at 39, followed by South Sinai at 12, and the Red Sea at nine.
- Almost 75% of Egypt’s beaches are private. Egypt has 271 private beaches with a combined length of 617.5 km. These beaches include 403 villas, cabins, and beach clubs.
- Private beaches are concentrated in the South Sinai, Ismailia, and Alexandria governorates, with 98, 51, and 37 beaches, respectively.
- The total number of tourist villages in Egypt is 361, spanning a coastal length of 1,525 km.
- Known for their major tourist destinations, the Red Sea and South Sinai governorates, where Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh cities are, dominate 64% of the tourist villages in Egypt, with 226 ones. Alexandria comes in third with 43 villages.
