Arab Finance: The 11th edition of Pharmaconex, Africa’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturing event, began on September 8th at the Egypt International Exhibition Center, according to an emailed press release.

Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), the three-day event marks over a decade of efforts to strengthen Egypt's pharmaceutical industry.

The opening ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Chairman of the EDA Ali Ghamarawy, President of the Egyptian Drug Manufacturing Chamber Gamal El Leithy, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Cyril Usifoh, and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Cairo University Ghada Ahmed Abdelbary.

This year’s edition of Pharmaconex has seen significant growth, with a 30% increase in attendance and the participation of over 350 exhibitors from 20 countries, including China, India, France, and Germany.

Around 8,500 visitors are expected, and international delegates, such as Ambassador of India Ajit Gupte and Austrian Commercial Counsellor George Krenn, are among the attendees.

A Nigerian and Chinese delegation is also present, exploring partnership opportunities with Egyptian pharmaceutical companies.

The event supports Egypt’s goal to localize modern pharmaceutical industries and enhance the global competitiveness of its local products.
