SCA issues facilitations to promote yacht marine tourism in Red Sea region

Arab Finance: The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has issued an array of facilitations and incentives for the canal transiting yachts under a new navigation circular to promote yacht marine tourism in the Red Sea region, as per a statement.

The new circular is effective as of November 1st, 2024.

The circular offers yachts with a gross tonnage of 300 tons or more a bundle of facilitations, including the possibility of joining the direct convoy of ships, along with the opportunity for direct transit without waiting at the anchorage in the Great Lakes area.

It also stipulates that yachts with a gross tonnage of less than 300 tons will be granted a 20% discount on transit fees on the return voyage if they return from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean within 60 days of their outbound trip.

In addition, the facilitations comprise a 20% discount on transit fees for yachts wintering at the Ismailia Yacht Marina for more than 90 days, applicable to the trip during which the wintering took place, whether the trip is from the north or south.

Moreover, the circular offers a 50% discount on berthing fees for yachts with a gross tonnage of less than 300 tons at the SCA’s Marinas in Port Said or Suez at the canal entrances, as long as the yachts arrive at a suitable time for transit and do not require an overnight stay or any services from these marinas.
