Arab Finance: Egypt has officially launched the Egyptian Vaccine Manufacturers Alliance (EVMA), an initiative that aims to localize vaccine production and expand exports across Africa, as per a statement.
This aligns with Egypt’s broader strategy to enhance healthcare capabilities and strengthen its position as a regional leader in pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing.
Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar outlined the key pillars of the Egyptian EVMA strategy for 2024-2030, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to boosting the local vaccine industry.
The strategy focuses on securing long-term contracts to ensure a stable market for domestic manufacturers through extended partnership agreements, thereby fostering growth and innovation.
A major objective is to expand access to African markets by collaborating with the African Union to facilitate the export of vaccines produced in Egypt.
The plan also encourages companies to contribute to national economic goals, including technology transfer, capacity building, and support for scientific research.
The minister added that the expected results of the strategy's pillars are increasing local production to meet national needs, enhancing exports to African countries, reducing spending on vaccine imports, improving the quality of local production and increasing its global competitiveness.
