Egypt tops EBRD operations in Southern, Eastern Mediterranean region for 2024: Madbouly

Arab Finance: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Egypt has maintained its position for the seventh year in a row as the largest country of operations for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region in 2024, according to a statement.

However, Egypt ranked third in terms of total investments of the EBRD worldwide following Turkiye and Ukraine, Madbouly added on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.

Madbouly pointed out EBRD’s investments in Egypt’s public and private sectors rose to more than €13 billion in 194 projects.

More than 80% of these investments were directed to the private sector, he noted.

On her part, Odile Renaud-Basso, President of EBRD, hailed the Egyptian government’s efforts to boost the state’s economy.

She affirmed plans to increase the bank's financing in the private sector across various fields, including the new and renewable energy sector.
