UNIDO, Industry Ministry host final event of GEIPP-Egypt

Arab Finance: The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Egypt’s Ministry of Industry are hosting the final event of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme in Egypt (GEIPP-Egypt), as per emailed press release.

The event highlights key achievements of the project, which promotes sustainable industrial growth while protecting the environment. 

The GEIPP-Egypt project focuses on integrating eco-industrial park (EIP) practices into national policies, identifying opportunities to create such parks, and taking steps toward their implementation.

The goal is to balance industrial development with environmental protection while boosting economic opportunities. 

The event is attended by key officials and partners, including Bernhard Soland, Deputy Head of Office for International Cooperation, Embassy of Switzerland, and Emad Abdelhameed, Assistant to the Minister for Developmental Projects and Financial Affairs, Ministry of Industry.

Moreover, Patrick Jean Gilabert, UNIDO Representative, Regional Office in Egypt, is also among the event’s attendees.

GEIPP-Egypt, funded by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), is being implemented in three major industrial zones: Orascom Industrial Park, Polaris Industrial Park, and the Robbiki Leather Cluster.

The project aims to improve resource efficiency and enhance the economic, environmental, and social performance of industries. 

Key partners include the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Industrial Development Authority, and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.
