Arab Finance: Egypt’s Ministry of Finance announced that the Public Treasury and Mint Authority has issued a collection of commemorative coins made of raw gold and silver to document the landmarks of the Grand Egyptian Museum, as per a statement.
The coins are not for circulation and celebrate one of Egypt’s most significant cultural projects, described by Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk as the world’s largest museum dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization.
The Minister’s Advisor for Engineering Affairs Sherif Hazem, explained that the series includes six denominations—1, 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 Egyptian pounds—crafted in gold and silver.
Each coin features a unique design showcasing key elements of the museum’s architecture and artifacts, including the Hanging Obelisk, the main facade and entrance, the solar boats, the statue of Ramses II, and the golden mask of Tutankhamun.
