Arab Finance: President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has met with the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on the sidelines of COP28 in Dubai to review cooperation between Egypt and IMF, a statement revealed.
During the meeting, El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the partnership between both sides in light of the ongoing cooperation program to implement Egypt’s economic reforms, stressing the government's commitment to maintaining it.
Moreover, he highlighted the program's role in promoting the Egyptian economy and luring more investments.
For her part, Georgieva confirmed the IMF’s interest in advancing its cooperation with Egypt and its support for the country’s economic reforms.
Additionally, Georgieva confirmed the IMF’s commitment to maintaining cooperation with the government to achieve Egypt’s goals, including boosting the overall economic indicators, promoting its competitiveness, ensuring deeper private sector engagement, and completing the ongoing development efforts.
Georgieva also said that Egypt will have the IMf's full support soon, Asharq Business reported.
“We are working right now with the Egyptian authorities. They are doing a very good job in a very difficult environment to prioritize support for vulnerable population and to create better opportunities for private sector development,” Georgieva remarked.
