EGX sees bearish trend on Monday

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session on a negative note after the EGX30 index declined by 1.56% to 54,796.55 points.

The EGX33 Shariah index also went down by 1.89% at 6,585.47 points.

Likewise, the EGX35-LV retreated by 2.23% to finish at 6,768.67 points.

Both the EGX70 index and the EGX100 index ended the session lower by 2.67% at 20,625.93 points and by 2.30% at 27,066.7 points, respectively.

The EGX’s turnover hit EGP 13.194 billion through the exchange of 3.494 billion shares over 310,189 transactions. Meanwhile, the market cap reached EGP 4.300 trillion.

Retail investors controlled 78.05% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors accounted for 21.94% of trading.

Egyptian traders represented 89.19% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign investors represented 3.77% and 7.05%, respectively.

Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 130.503 million. Egyptian and foreign traders were net buyers with EGP 12.339 million and EGP 118.163 million, respectively.
