Arab Finance: The British Egyptian Business Association (BEBA) has organized a panel discussion titled ‘’The New Era of Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Opportunities’’ on April 23rd.
The event brought together a distinguished array of business leaders and experts to discuss the complexities and promises of AI.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat initiated the event with a keynote address, shedding light on the strategic initiatives undertaken by the government to harness the potential of AI and deal with the challenges it presents.
“AI is our system’s ability to analyze huge amounts of data. But the question is: Are the data accurate, comprehensive, real, and complete? If they are, they will help. And if they are not, then there is an issue,” Talaat remarked.
“Data is the bloodline of AI’s accuracy and completeness. These are very important elements and if they are met, AI can definitely help. But if there is a disruption, there will be an issue in the accuracy of the decision or the results you are obtaining out of the system,” he highlighted.
Joining the discussion were esteemed panelists, including the General Manager of IBM Egypt Marwa Abbas, Parliament Member and Deputy Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Sahar Albazar, and Provost and Senior Vice-President of the British University in Egypt (BUE).
Managing Director and CEO of Sequence Venture Mohamed Fahmy, Head of Venture Growth at Falak Startups Tarek Seif El Nasr, and Head of the Applied Innovation Center at MCIT Ahmed Tantawy were also among the participants in the panel discussion.
Throughout the panel discussion, participants engaged in lively debates on topics ranging from ethics and privacy concerns of adopting AI to its role in economic development and job displacement.
