Arab Finance: Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cisco to train 250,000 people in cybersecurity and advanced digital specializations over the next five years, as per a statement.

The initiative aims to develop skilled professionals capable of addressing cybersecurity threats and meeting the growing demands of the global labor market.

Minister of Communications Amr Talaat emphasized that this collaboration aligns with the ministry’s strategy to partner with leading global technology firms to expand digital training and provide youth with specialized skills in high-demand fields.

He highlighted Egypt’s increasing need for cybersecurity expertise, particularly following the launch of the National Cybersecurity Strategy 2023-2027 and the introduction of a regulatory framework for cybersecurity testing and assessment.

He also underscored the ministry’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Cisco in research, development, and digital excellence centers.

The training program is part of Cisco Networking Academy’s global goal to train 25 million people in digital skills and cybersecurity by 2032.

In Egypt, the academy has already trained over 335,000 individuals, with women making up 32% of participants.

During the fiscal year (FY) 2023/2024, more than 70,000 trainees enrolled in its courses across 146 academies nationwide.
