Egypt’s CPI for food, non-alcoholic beverages records 286 points in December

Arab Finance: The consumer price index (CPI) for the food and non-alcoholic beverages in Egypt, including urban and rural areas, recorded 286 points in December 2024, falling at 19.2% as compared to November 2024, as per CAPMAS’ monthly CPI bulletin for December 2024.

The division of bread and cereals recorded a CPI of 294.7 points, rising 0.3% month on month (YoY) to 24.3% in December.

As for meat prices, its CPI inched down 0.1% to 19.8% or 199.9 points, while fish and seafood registered a 302 point-CPI at 20.6%, marking a 0.6% decrease.

Meanwhile, milk, cheese, and eggs recorded 322.7 points, and oils and fats registered a CPI of 254.8 points.

The fruits division hit 37.2% in December, with a CPI of 299.9 points, while vegetables prices fell 14% to 4.4%, seeing a CPI of 255 points.

The coffee, tea, and cocoa prices rose by 0.3% to 24%, recording a CPI of 281.3 points.
