USD trades near EGP 47.7 at Egyptian banks amid easing global tensions

Arab Finance: The US dollar has remained under pressure by mid-Monday, recording EGP 47.66 for buying and EGP 47.76 for selling at Banque Misr and the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) at 1:03 pm.

Meanwhile, the USD recorded EGP 47.64 for purchasing and EGP 47.74 for selling at the Commercial International Bank Egypt (CIB) and Faisal Islamic Bank.

The exchange rate between the USD and EGP hit EGP 47.65 for buying and EGP 47.75 for selling at Al Baraka Bank Egypt and the United Bank.

On the global market, the US dollar index traded near 99.00, reaching an intraday high of 99.13 as market sentiment improved following a softer tone from US President Donald Trump on trade policy.

Trump affirmed that China’s economy “will be fine”, adding that the US wants to “help China, not hurt it,” easing concerns about a renewed tariff escalation.

The remarks helped stabilize the dollar after last week’s volatility and limited further downside pressure.
