Arab Finance: Assiut Oil Refining Company (ASORC) has begun implementing a 10-megawatt solar power project funded by a European Union (EU) grant, covering 10% of its annual electricity consumption, as per a statement.
The company also plans to launch an industrial wastewater recycling project that will save 2 million cubic meters of Nile water annually, reduce operating costs by approximately $1.5 million, and support environmental conservation.
Currently, its treated wastewater is used to irrigate jojoba plantations, preventing external discharge and generating both environmental and economic benefits.
As part of its efforts to improve industrial efficiency, the company has completed the renewal of cooling fans in Distillation Device 1, increasing airflow and reducing fumes.
This enhancement is expected to recover around 125 tons of butane per month, leading to annual savings of $720,000.
Additionally, several furnace chimneys have been connected to the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency’s continuous self-monitoring system for gas emissions, reinforcing compliance with environmental standards.
These initiatives underscore the company's commitment to environmental and economic sustainability across its operations.
